Plan ahead if you want a bed for the Ploughing
As a result, Tullamore Tourism is now placing accommodation seekers in Mullingar, Birr, Banagher and Portlaoise.
Ploughing Association spokesperson Anna Marie McHugh said while many people pre-book accommodation, it has been known for visitors to arrive to the host town and literally knock on doors in the hope of getting a bed for the night.
“However, the message from the NPA is to plan ahead, and don’t be disappointed,” she said, pointing out that the annual scramble for beds is now in full swing.
