Plan ahead if you want a bed for the Ploughing

ALL Fáilte approved accommodation within 30 minutes of Tullamore is fully booked during the National Ploughing Championships from September 25 to 27.

As a result, Tullamore Tourism is now placing accommodation seekers in Mullingar, Birr, Banagher and Portlaoise.

Ploughing Association spokesperson Anna Marie McHugh said while many people pre-book accommodation, it has been known for visitors to arrive to the host town and literally knock on doors in the hope of getting a bed for the night.
