CALLING occupants of 25-acre farms in the Cork area. The Munster Agricultural Society, who have been CPO-ed out of their traditional showgrounds in Cork’s Ballintemple area, are looking for land in the greater Cork area for a new headquarters.

The voluntary organisation, who has been running since 1842, has dates booked at the Showgrounds on Centre Park Road until 2008, and will leave some time after that, says chairman Gerard Murphy, so they are anxious to put an alternative in order, sooner rather than later.

They are in the process of claiming compensation for the CPO on their 21.5 acre Showgrounds site (a process familiar to many farmers), and are in the process of compiling valuations at the moment.
