Newmarket Co-op milking it in 2006

NEWMARKET Co-op in north Cork topped the Irish Farmers Journal/KPMG 2006 audit of average milk prices, minus collection charges and levies.

They paid 26.44 cent per litre, for milk of 3.82% fat and 3.33% protein.

Three west Cork co-ops had the next best — Lisavaird, 26.28c at 3.73% fat and 3.33% protein; Drinagh, 25.98c at 3.71% fat and 3.3% protein; and Bandon, 3.75% fat and 3.33% protein. Wexford Creamery Ltd paid 25.85c at 3.83% fat and 3.33% protein.
