Limerick opposition to milk payment formula

IFA in Limerick has unanimously asked the IFA National Council to endorse their opposition to the proposed system in which price would be determined by the value of the milk solids rather than the gallons of milk supplied.

Limerick farmers have shot down the “A+B-C” formula because they say there is no agreed way of determining the “C” value.

At a Limerick IFA Executive meeting, David Thompson said, “It is meaningless for farmers and we would be mad to support it any further — it should be scrapped now.
