Share trading has been busy at Cork Marts, according to the co-op’s annual report.

After a 20% bonus issue last year, almost 600 non-trading shareholders chose to redeem their shares, and €260,000 was paid out to them. This encashment value had increased by 140% since 2002.

According to Cork Marts chairman Matt Murphy, non-trading shareholders will be given the opportunity each year to redeem shares and take the cash benefit of the group’s capital growth.
