PIG prices have dropped 4c to a range of 134 to 140 cent per kg — as the industry generally follows last week’s Glanbia price cut — according to IFA.

Export plant flat rate quotes are 132 to 138 cent per kg at Glanbia, and 134 to 138 cent per kg net at Dawn, according to IFA. The welfare bonus stays at 2 cent per kg on average.

The pork slaughtering price range is 138 to 140 cent. Other IFA market estimates are €52 to 56 for 32 kg weaners, with sow prices at 26 to 28 per cwt liveweight.

For the week ending March 11, throughput totalled 50,512 pigs and 1,617 sows. The Irish price averaged 134 cent, compared to 129 cent in the EU-25.
