Time approaching for last offers on sheep farm

BRISK bidding on a sheep farm at Knockaun in Ballyduff, Co Waterford, is being brought to a head by a deadline of March 28 for last offers.

Time approaching for last offers on sheep farm

Paul O’Driscoll of Sherry FitzGerald O’Driscoll is looking for just over €1 million for this good quality pasture land in the Blackwater Valley.

There are sheep running over the land at the moment, he says, but it’s also suitable for cattle, and is south-facing.

The land has superb views over the valley towards Glenkieran, he adds. While current offers are for the entire parcel, it can be sold in lots because it’s divided by a minor road.

The aim is to achieve €17,000 per acre in the sale, and they’ve almost reached that, says O’Driscoll.

lThe same agent is also selling a fine piece of hobby farming ground at Ballynanelagh, Rathcormac, just 10 minutes from the Jack Lynch Tunnel — and that’s keeping within the speed limit.

The land is off the old N8, says O’Driscoll, and has frontage onto the River Bride, which is a great trout river; in fact, the land lies in the basin of the river.

Zoned A3 in the county development plan, building is open to qualified applicants only, but hobby farmers may be able to gain permission on that basis.

The zoning categories are also due to change in the draft development plan, for which observations by the public are being collated at the moment.
