Protect vulnerable lambs by having all equipment at hand
Loss of a lamb is money down the drain, so aim to protect any vulnerable lambs by having all equipment at hand.
Power hose and disinfect the lambing pens, clean out, disinfect them and have a supply of clean straw ready. Have at least one lambing pen for every 10 or so ewes in the flock. You can use dividers to split up pens with a large number of ewes into smaller units later on. Food and water should be close at hand for the ewes. Check field fences and gates are lamb proof. This will prevent a lot of trouble after ewe and lamb turnout.
