Grant rush rejects

HUNDREDS of farmers may have lost out in the last-minute rush to apply for Farm Waste Management Scheme grants.

Grant rush rejects

Early analysis of the flood of applications before the December 31 deadline revealed a very high level of incomplete applications, which are likely to be rejected by the Department of Agriculture.

This was highlighted at a Limerick IFA Executive meeting, where Marian Flynn said, “There are some of the applications, and all the farmer done was to sign his name to the form. There is going to be a very big rejection rate, and farmers will lose their grants. Some of them don’t yet know what is coming, they will be shocked.”
