He explained that better value and less bureaucracy is driving demand for Scottish land in particular.
“Land in Scotland is in particular demand and not only from producers in the UK but also further afield,” he said. “This is driving the land value in the region and it is currently at its highest since 1997. But at £3,000 to £4,000 (€4,500 to €6,000) per acre, it’s still better value than many regions. Take £9,000 (€13,500) an acre in Denmark, and £16,000 (€24,000) an acre in Ireland, and it’s easy to see why farmers from elsewhere are finding it an attractive proposition.”
