Model farm near city can be sold in several lots

HE called it a model farm in 2005 and this time round, quality hasn’t changed, but quantity has, for auctioneer Christy Buckley.

The farm at Templemichael, White’s Cross, is a 100 acre holding, but this time round it’s going to be offered in any number of lots.

Situated a few miles north of Cork City, it’s an area where land for building with room to maybe keep a couple of ponies is in strong demand. Which is why Christy Buckley is giving a strong guide price of €40,000 per acre.

“It’s the cream of land,” he says, “and this property is laid out in lovely-sized fields with more road frontage than you’d find anywhere.”

The sale is by private treaty and is non-residential — the former farmhouse and modern yard are not included.

A tillage and drystock farm, it’s only six miles from the city and divides nicely into three lots, although it can be bought in sizes from six acres upwards, he says. The land is bisected by a public road.

In 2005, this farm sold in the entire for ‘well in excess of its guide price of €1.5m’. This time, he guides it at €4m.
