Fearful farmers close to boiling point over unannounced inspections

CONFLICT between farmers and the Department of Agriculture over farm inspections is close to boiling point.

The Department is required by the EU to inspect a sample of farms, and farmers paid the Single Farm Payment (SFP) are obliged to permit such inspections.

What farmers argue against is over-zealous inspection.
