JOHN HODNETT of SWS Property Services is selling a 47 acre residential holding at Liscubba, Lyre, six miles from Clonakilty in West Cork, which he describes as a very well located property.

West Cork residential holding comes with 47 acres

Good quality land which has been let out for a number of years, it’s in one block, with extensive road frontage, and is divided by a public road.

It’s all in pasture and well fenced, and guide priced at €15,000 per acre, excluding the farmhouse.

This traditional-style residence hasn’t been lived in for some time, but would repay any investment, as West Cork residences like this are always in demand.

The yard has lofted stone outhouses, a silage shed and cubicle houses,

There is further residential development potential with some of these buildings, says John Hodnett.

The 26’ by 18’ lofted barn could convert to a guest cottage, for example.

The residence has a living room, kitchen, back kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor, with three bedrooms overhead.

The property can be sold in lots, ranging from the residence on two acres to the entire 47 acres.

lNot too many miles away, auctioneer John Hodnett recently had a very successful sale of a similar property.

This 40 acre holding at Ballylibert, near Castlefreke, also had a traditional-style farmhouse in need of renovation, but the coastal location probably helped to boost the sale price to €1.6 million.

It has been confirmed that the buyer is Batty Hayes.

From nearby Rosscarbery, he heads up Forestbrook Developments, and had major horse racing success last year with Newmill, winner of the Queen Mother Chase at Cheltenham and the Dairygold Chase at Punchestown.
