FARMERS have been surprised to find that existing buildings must be inspected by an engineer before they can be included in grant aided farmyard improvement.

They are questioning the additional cost burden of submission of an engineer’s report to the Department of Agriculture before approval for grant assistance can be given.

This is a new requirement, according to the IFA.
