INTENSIFIED competition from South America, and any eventual WTO deal, continue to pose major challenges for the Irish beef industry, according to Aidan Cotter, Chief Executive of Bord Bia.

He was announcing a 23% rise in Irish beef sales to Continental EU outlets this year, but warned strengthening the market position of Irish beef, through building consumer preference and loyalty, remains a key strategic priority.
