AN estimated 10,000 people attended the Bantry Agricultural Show last Sunday.

Big prizes for Bantry Show titles

Derry Rothwell, Tinahely, Co Wicklow, won the top award in the €3,000 Murnane and O’Shea Three-Year-Old Filly All Ireland Championship; the reserve champion was a horse belonging to Ray Cahalane, Union Hall, West Cork.

The top award in the €3,000 Celtic Ross Hotel Irish Draught Foal Munster Championship was won by the filly section winner, shown by Thomas Nyhan, Gairdin Mor, Ballineen, Co Cork; the reserve went to Peter O’Donovan, Foxhall, Rosscarbery, who showed both the colt section winner and filly section reserve; Daniel Buckley, Macroom, showed the colt section reserve.

Co Limerick exhibitor Billy Gubbins, Kilfinane, showed the overall Commercial Beef Champion and also won the bullock and heifer sections; the best pair of any cattle breed was shown by Anthony O’Leary, Ballincollig.
