KEEN competition among cattle and horse exhibitors from West Cork was a feature of the Ballyvourney-Coolea show last weekend.

John and Mary Hayes, Rosscarbery, won the Friesian championship while the overall beef champion was shown by John Appleby, Clonakilty.

There was a double for Leap in the horse and pony classes, with Billy Twomey taking the champion young horse and Michael Calnan the Pony of the Show award.

Barren Mare: Keith Fahy, Maulbreda, Enniskeane

Non-Thoroughbred 2 yr old Colt or Filly: Billy Twomey, Clonkeen, Leap

Young Horse of the Show: Billy Twomey, Clonkeen, Leap

Champion Foal: Michael Coughlan, Gurrane, Caheragh, Drimoleague
