IRISH grain production will be close to last year, predict Teagasc advisers, who expect 11% less wheat, an increase of more than 40% in oats, and unchanged barley tonnages.

Already, good yields of grain and straw have been reported as the winter barley harvest draws to a close.

Early harvested crops of winter oats are returning excellent quality and good yields, according to Teagasc advisers, who also report good yields of oilseed rape, at low moistures.
