Irish nitrogen surplus less than EU average

IN Ireland, nitrogen surplus to crop requirements is less than the EU average.

The nitrogen in mineral fertilisers and organic manures, fixation by leguminous crops and clover, and deposition from the atmosphere has been measured for the EU-15.

The nitrogen taken out in harvested arable crops and crops used for fodder was also measured.
