The highlights of the equine classes will be the Ridden Hunter and Young Horse Championships, while the Breed Championships will be one to watch at the cattle rings.

The Show, organised by the Munster Agricultural Society, reverts back to a one-day gala this year, with a packed programme of events.

A sustainable living exhibition will reflect changes in agriculture. Farmers will be able to access advice on a diverse range of alternative activities, including wind, solar and geothermal energies, as well as biofuels, eco houses, thatching, insulation and composting. Alternative farm enterprises such as organics, cheese making, forestry and beekeeping will also be outlined.

Sunday’s programme will also feature a pet show.

Michel Jewellers will present an €800 Christian Dior watch to the best dressed lady.
