Marie Symington takes another award

But that’s what Marie Symington, c/o Joan Ahern, Carhue, Bandon, did at Belgooly’s 62nd agricultural show, with Ballingowan Glance.

After success at Midleton, the winner by Buster King out of Milands Halo looks set for a successful season.

Seamus Lehane, Ballymacowen, Clonakilty, took the young horse championship with The Galway Guy, while Eamon Holden from Adamstown, Kilmeaden, Co Waterford, took the working hunter championship with Regal Light.

The working hunter championship was won by Daniel Sheehan, Macroom, with Worthabbey Merlin.

John Barrett and Sons, Togher, Cork dominated in the dairy cattle classes.

The beef animal championship went to Eustace and Deirdre Burke, Carrigaline with Cahirmee Ursula, while the calf award was won by Tim O’Donovan, Dunmanway.

Glorious sunshine brought a record crowd to the show, which was organised by a committee headed by John Stanley, chairman.

Working Hunter Horse (O’Brien Saddlery Cup) — Eamon Holden, Adamstown House, Adamstown, Kilmeaden, Co Waterford

Ridden Pony (Gotto Cup) — Val Hyde, Ballycrenane, Ballymacoda.

Led Pony (Joy Murphy Shield) — David Lynch, c/o Timmy Hurley, 6 Ballyseedy, Tralee.

Working Hunter Pony (Cecil Gash Cup) — Daniel Sheehan, Cahirbrane, Clondrohid, Macroom.

Beef (Dan Joe O’Regan Cup) — Eustace and Deirdre Burke, Ballyginnane, Carrigaline.

Calf (Sherrard Cup) — Tim O’Donovan, Gurtnamuckla, Dunmanway.

Supreme Champion Dairy Animal (J J Murphy’s Brewers Cup) — John Barrett and Sons, The Laurels, Lehenaghmore, Togher, Cork.
