Welger show future of round baling

THE new Lely Welger RP 235 Xtracut 17 round baler’s E-Link handset in the tractor cab allows the operator to easily adjust the amount of net wrap applied per bale and bale density, and choose all 17 knives from the chopping system — without having to physically remove knives.

Functional new guarding is also designed to make life easier for the operator, allowing easier access to the side of the machine for maintenance and inspection. It has a new ground level net roll.

Meanwhile, Welger have shown the future of round baling with the W1 Concept Baler they showed at the world leading AgriTechnica machinery exhibition in Hanover, Germany. This prototype was designed with the needs of the contractor and farmer in mind —– racing against time, with machine downtime a critical factor.

Features of the prototype include:

* The chainless main drive means there is no tensioning, no repeated greasing, no refilling of oil reservoirs, and no oil spillage on the machine. The environment benefits also.

* As the Welger W1 is operated fully automatically, the driver only needs to stop for the application of net onto the bale.

* Rollers and bearings in the high-load areas are more accessible as a result of modular design.
