Detailed drawings needed for farm waste grants
“We have not seen anything like the level of applications we are getting for the new scheme,” said Department official Eddie O’Doherty. “We have been swamped with applications and we are trying to deal with them as quickly as possible within the limited resources which we have.”
“If farmers want to get approval quickly, quality detailed drawings are essential, so that the job can be costed and the approval issued, so that the work can get started.”
Farmers have also been advised that planning permission will be required for most developments, which will take at least three months from the time of application to when work can commence.
There are minor exceptions to planning for small developments and details of these exemptions are available from the County Councils, says Mr O’Doherty.
Farmers who have been served Section 12 notices by their local authority to carry out specific work for control of pollution are exempt from the requirement for planning permission.
It has been learned that a number of farmers have requested County Council officials to issue Section 12 notices for their farms, but these requests have been turned down.
