Building price increases eating into grants

FARM Waste Management grants are devalued by up to €5,000 because the construction costings used are 19 months old, according to ICMSA.

ICMSA’s Farm Services and Environment spokesman, Conor Creedon, said they will demand revised costings, backdated to the date of grant, in partnership talks with the Government.

Unprecedented increases in construction costs since September 2004 included a 7% increase for ready mix concrete, he said.
