AS the supply of cattle to the factories continues to increase, the downward slide in prices on offer is chipping away at the returns to cattle farmers.

Quoted prices for the week show a further drop for most grades of cattle.

The top quality cattle, grading U, are the exception, holding at 280 cents/kg (100p/lb), weathering the change best while producers of R and O grade cattle are feeling the pinch of price cuts of about 14 cent/kg (5p/lb).
