A CORK-BASED forestry research company has scooped a major European industry award for the development of image processing technology to assess forest crop attributes.

Treemetrics will share the €50,000 Schweighofer Prize with its German research partner, the University of Freiburg's Institute of Forest Growth.

The award is handed out every two years for innovation in forestry, wood technology, timber products and marketing and is regarded as the leading award in the European timber industry.
