€3,400 for Kilmallock baby beef

MARTS: A top price of €3,400 was paid for an outstanding Charolais bullock, winner of the overall reserve Championship of the Show at the Annual Fat Stock Show and Sale at Kilmallock Mart, County Limerick.

The bullock, winner of the class award for the best baby beef bullock, was exhibited by William Gubbins, Cush House, Kilfinane, Co Limerick. Weighing 760 kgs and winner of the reserve championship of the show, he was sold to Gerard Gallagher, Carrigart, Co Donegal for €3,400.

The overall champion of the show was a Charolais bullock that scaled just over one tonne. The bullock, winner of the class award for best bullock any age was exhibited by Seamus Neary, Troyswood, Co Kilkenny. It weighed in at 1,035 kgs and was purchased by Tom Moore, Kilmallock for €3,000.
