PIG prices are increased by 4c/kg this week; they now range from 130 to 134 cent/kg. Supplies remain tight for all southern plants.

Pig prices stil ahead of EU

The Northern Ireland average pig price range is now 134 to 136cent/kg. Northern factories are offering contract prices of 1.34 until the end of January.

In the South, flat rate export plant quotes are 130cent to 134cent/kg nett, 7 or 8 cent /kg bonus for welfare friendly pigs.

Pork slaughterers quote from 134 to 138 cent/kg.

Regular weaner outlets pay 40 to 44/kgs (£31 to £34 for 32 kgs). Sows sell for 19 to 22/cwt in steady trading.

Slaughterings for the week ending November 8 were 52,876 pigs and 2,646 sows.

Irish pig prices (1.26/kg) for the week were still ahead of the EU average (1.25/kg).
