EU lawyers have dismissed charges that EU Farm Commissioner-in-waiting Mariann Fischer Boel faced a conflict of interest because she owns a large farm.

After a political row sparked by a Danish far-left politician, a spokesman for the European Commission said EU lawyers issued a clear-cut opinion, after receiving documentation from Fischer-Boel’s accountants.

She was found to have put a clear distance, under Danish law, between her land ownership and the exploitation of that land for agricultural purposes.
