Milk price cut ‘disappointing’

Ireland: Dairygold Co-op’s 2c/gl May milk price cut was described by IFA Dairy Committee chairman Michael Murphy as disappointing for suppliers.

He called on the country’s largest co-op to show leadership and give milk producers a confidence boost by holding prices for the rest of the year.

In an earlier statement, Mr Murphy said that the Irish dairy industry remains far too dependent on commodities. This makes the price of milk much more vulnerable to Brussels decisions.
