Milk price cut ‘disappointing’
He called on the country’s largest co-op to show leadership and give milk producers a confidence boost by holding prices for the rest of the year.
In an earlier statement, Mr Murphy said that the Irish dairy industry remains far too dependent on commodities. This makes the price of milk much more vulnerable to Brussels decisions.
Co-ops must implement the prospectus report to address the industry’s inefficiencies and to seriously tackle its undervalued product mix, if they are to deliver viable milk prices, he said.
