New JD range most powerful rigid tractor
The new design has resulted in 10 to 20% more power, up to 5% better fuel economy, and 40% lower nitrous oxide exhaust emissions, compared with the engines they replace.
The range is topped by the 330 horse power 8530 model, with a maximum rating of 360 horse power, making it the most powerful rigid body tractor on the market, according to John Deere.
It will make its public UK debut at the British Potato 2005 event in Harrogate on November 30 and December 1.
Among the innovations in the new nine-litre, six-cylinder, and four-valve John Deere engines is adjustable airflow for optimum intake depending on engine rpm.
More torque at lower engine speeds and fuel savings are the objectives.
Reduced noise and fuel consumption are among the benefits claimed for variable speed cooling fan drives and exhaust gas recirculation.
Exhaust gas recirculation also allows the engine to meet more demanding emission standards without compromising performance.
Other improvement figures are rated speed reduced to 2100 rpm, standard PTO speed reduced to 2000 rpm, torque increased by up to 40%, with a 37% faster torque rise.
Up to 30 extra horsepower can be achieved over a wide constant power range, with maximum power achieved at 1950 rpm.
The new tractor range is made up of the 225hp 8130; the 250 hp 8230; the 280 hp 8330; the 305 hp 8430; and 330 hp 8530.
Infinitely variable transmission will offer stepless speeds from 0.05 to 42kph in the 8030 Series.
