Milk quota for young farmers

SOME co-ops are unable to find enough young farmers to take the 25% of the restructuring milk quota which is set aside for young farmers, said Macra na Feirme national president Thomas Honner.

Any of this quota which co-ops cannot re-allocate should go to young farmers in other co-ops, said Mr Honner.

It was announced last year that restructuring quota which cannot be re-allocated within co-ops would be put into a national scheme after three months.
