Pig price slips 16c per kg behind EU-25

PIG prices paid by the larger slaughter plants are unchanged this week, ranging from 135 cent to 144 cent/kg.

McCarrens have added 2c/kg, now quoting €1.36/kg on average.

Dawn and Galtee quote 140 to 143 cent/kg flat rate net, 135 to 140 was on offer from Glanbia.

Welfare pigs averaged €1.45 to €1.48/kg.

Pork slaughterers prices are unchanged, ranging from 135 to140 cent/kg.

Regular weaner outlet prices have improved, now €46 to €49 for 32 kg. Sow prices are steady, averaging €32 to €35/cwt liveweight or €0.89 to €0.98 per kg deadweight.

For the week ended September 11, slaughterings totalled 54,051 pigs and 1,599 sows.

The Irish price averaged €1.36/kg.

The EU-25 price averaged €1.52/kg, for Grade E pigs, 55% to 60% lean meat, excluding VAT but including transport and bonuses.
