Progess on destocking levels

THE IFA Hill Farming Committee yesterday welcomed progress on appeals being made by farmers to Commonage Framework plans which will result in a reduction of the level of destocking required.

Progess on destocking levels

Significant reductions have already been recommended by the independent appeals panel, with final approval resting with the Agriculture Minister, Joe Walsh.

Chairman Michael Comiskey said 20 commonages have been reassessed, with reduction being recommended in all cases. This will mean destocking will be significantly reduced as the polluter pays principle will not apply when the destocking required has fallen below 20%.
