GRAIN imports from Russia have got a clean bill of health in radiation tests.

Millions of tonnes of cheap grain from the Black Sea region entered the EU over the past two years. Some comes from the Ukraine, where the Chernobyl incident in 1996 poisoned 27,850 square miles of land.

Grain from Russia was recently tested for radiation at the request of the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland, revealed Agriculture and Food Minister Joe Walsh said in the Dail when asked a question by Labour TD Willie Penrose.
