Organic food ‘increasingly available’

Ireland: The growth in farmers’ markets is now providing an outlet for organic produce in many towns, Teagasc said as it began a series of 13 organic farm open days at various locations.
Organic food ‘increasingly available’

Ger Shortie, Teagasc, Johnstown Castle, announcing details of the open days, being held in association with the Department of Agriculture and Food and the organic certifying bodies, said there are an increasing number of outlets with organic products.

Mr Shortie said farmers are also attracted to organic farming as it complies with all environmental requirements and may suit many who decide to farm more extensively post-decoupling.
