IFA leader rejects agri-vision conclusions

THE conclusions of the Government’s agri-vision report that there would be only 8,750 viable full-time farmers left in the country by 2015 were rejected by IFA leader John Dillon yesterday.

He described the projection as “a doomsday scenario,” which would also be a catastrophe for the food industry, as the supply of farm produce for processing would wind down.

Mr Dillon said the IFA recognises the important contribution of part-time farmers.
