Markey inauguration highlight of AGM

THE Macra national AGM takes place in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh on Saturday, May 7, sponsored by Arrabawn Co-op.

The inauguration of Colm Markey as the new President, and of the three new regional vice-presidents, is the AGM highlight. But there’s also the finals of the Creative Challenge Competition.

Teams from Ballymurphy, Carlow; Clonakilty, Carbery; Mountmellick, Laois; Ballylanders, Limerick; Longwood/Killyon, Meath; and Kiltealy/Ballindaggin, Wexford will make this a test of cooking, carpentry and computer skills, in the Nenagh GAA complex.

On Saturday evening in the Debating National Final teams from Nenagh and from Athboy, Co Meath will address the motion of “Should Genetically Modified Crops be allowed to be grown in Ireland.” On the lighter side, there’s the Saturday night disco and a Sunday cruise on the Shannon, leaving from Ballina.
