273 acre farm a golden opportunity for buyer

The agent is taking the 273 acres grazing farm at Clonmellon in Co Westmeath to auction this month, but says he may sell beforehand, as interest is keen at present. Compared to southern per acre prices, the guide here of €1.3 million, or just under 5,000 per acre, is very reasonable and the farm is superb, says Mr Potterton.

He suggests it would also suit a dairy enterprise, particularly for a farmer with quota to bring with him. The land is dry and well sheltered and is suitable for year-round grazing, he says, so New Zealand method practitioners might find this attractive.
