Offaly producer triumphs at Roscrea

A CO OFFALY beef producer set a new record when he won most of the major awards at the 42nd Annual Fat Stock Show and Sale at Roscrea, Co Tipperary.

David Wharton’s Belgian Blue beef heifer sold for €2,200 after being judged overall show champion and another, judged reserve champion, sold for €2,175, after scaling in at 676kg.

He received €1,950 for a Belgian Blue x female, winner of best fat cow or cow heifer, and went on to win several awards, including those for best group of three bullocks and best group of three heifers.
