No future in 10 per acre profits

GETTING cattle farmers to work for 65 per acre is the major challenge facing the beef industry.

In 2003, farmers worked for 215 on average, ranging from 192 for rearing stores, to 264 for cattle rearing on dairy farms.

They will do well to match that this year, but an entirely different scenario looms when decoupling kicks in, 12 months from now.
