ICA President, Anne Murray, returned to her native Galway for her first council meeting.

She addressed over 500 delegates at a meeting in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill, on Wednesday, October 22, and dealt with issues such as:

The level of alcohol and drug abuse in Ireland

The apparent disappearance of the Women’s Health Plan

ICA’s endorsement of the proposed Smoking Ban.

The President’s address was delivered at 2.30pm and followed by the official launching of the Association’s Pre-Budget Submission .

The guest speaker was Professor McCarthy, from the National Breast Cancer Research Institute in Galway. The ICA has a long association with the NBCRI and to date have raised over 250,000 for breast cancer research. Delegates heard from various sub-committees, including International Affairs, Sports & Leisure, Agriculture, Rural Development & Environment.
