Sligo: More profitable use of resources in a changing environment will be the theme of this year’s Macra na Feirme young farmers conference at Sligo Park Hotel on November 26.

Speakers will include John Gilliland, a member of the British Sustainable Development Commission and a former president of the Ulster Farmers Union, Aaron Forde chief executive of conference sponsors Connacht Gold and Tom Clinton, farmer and entrepreneur.

The event will be chaired by Frank O’Mahony, national chairperson of Macra’s agricultural affairs committee. There will be also be three organised morning tours to Sligo Dairies, Agatha Magee’s dairy farm, and Richard Woodmartin’s beef, sheep and open farm.
