Breeders reject ICBF bull list

THE Cork Holstein Friesian Breeders Club (CHFBC) are advising their members to treat the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF) active AI dairy bull list with caution, and they are issuing their own recommended list of 50 of the bulls.

Their action has drawn a warning from ICBF Chief Executive Brian Wickham that the breeders could be in breach of ICBF’s copyright on the list.

CHFBC chairman Peter Kingston said they “filtered” out bulls with low reliability, because insufficient numbers of their daughters had been assessed, and they “filtered” out bulls rated poorly for “legs and feet” and udders.
