Garden market worth €370m

THE market for landscape services in Ireland is now estimated at €370 million, Bord Glas revealed yesterday at the Association of Landscape Contractors annual awards ceremony in Dublin.

New housing, private gardens, infrastructure (roads, public works) and business/retail parks have contributed to a doubling in the value of services in the private sector in the last five years to €194 million.

Public sector purchasing of landscape services accounts for €106 million followed by the golf sector at €70 million. Overall, the landscape sector employs some 7,500 people.
