EU to decide on Argentina beef ban

THE European Union Veterinary Committee will decide today on the level of restrictions to be imposed on Argentinian meat imports after an outbreak of foot and mouth in the country.

Irish Farmers’ Association Livestock Committee chairman John Bryan said that Argentina exported 154,000 tonnes of beef to the EU last year.

He called on the European Commission to impose a total ban on all South American beef imports into the EU.
