THE unexpected death of Jim Moloney last week left the Irish agricultural co-operatives sector in mourning.

Survived by his wife Una, daughter Aoifean, extended family and a large circle of friends, Mr Moloney was laid to rest in Rathfarnham, Dublin.

He was born into a farming family in the intensive farming area of Barryroe in west Cork. He graduated from UCC with a degree in Economics and History and joined the Irish Agricultural Organisations Society (later renamed Irish Co-operative Organisation Society) in 1950, as a field officer in the Munster region.
