Soccer event for tsunami appeal

AS the toll of the devastating tsunami disaster continues to rise, Shinrone Macra in Co Offaly has joined the huge outpouring of goodwill towards relief efforts, with an announcement that it plans a massive charity soccer blitz on Sunday, January 16.

Shinrone Macra chairman Owen Dooley said members were appalled at the loss of life and felt they had to do something to aid the fundraising.

“It’s hard to imagine the scale of it,” he said.
