The impact of decoupling and the WTO negotiations will see the Irish agri-sector propelled into a new era, according to John Grogan, president of the Agricultural Science Association, which will hold its annual conference in Waterford on September 10.

He said the changes required to farm profitably in the absence of farming subsidies will demand innovation at farm-gate, product development and processor levels.

Speakers at the heart of the debate will address the ASA conference, sponsored by FBD Trust, with a focus on the opportunities created for Irish farming in the context of this newfound ‘Freedom to Farm’.
