Laois farmers win prestigious award

Kilkenny: Laois tillage farmers James and Frances Delaney, Derrygarron, Portlaoise, along with their son, Liam, are the overall winner of Glanbia’s Quality Malting Barley Grower of the Year Award for 2004.

Minister of State John Browne, who presented the awards in Kilkenny, said initiatives like the awards scheme serve to preserve and enhance our excellent world reputation for its food and drink.

Regional award winners: Myles Nolan, Glenbrien, Enniscorthy (Eastern); Simon Cleary, Ballyanne House, New Ross, (South Eastern); James Delaney, Derrygarron, Portlaoise, (Midlands) and Patrick Higgins, Curraglass, Co Cork (Southern).
